2021 Ladera Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc
95 Points - The Tasting Panel
The 2021 Ladera Sauvignon Blanc is comprised of two distinct Sauvignon Blanc clonal selections: Clone 1 and Sauvignon Musqué and is exclusively sourced from Ryan’s Vineyard located in the Oak Knoll District AVA. A unique micro-climate and meticulous attention-to-detail throughout the growing season make Ryan’s Vineyard one of the finest Sauvignon Blanc vineyard sites in all of Napa Valley, producing wines with inherent varietal distinction, intense fruit expression and great balance.
The Sauvignon Blanc grapes were harvested in the cool hours of the night then whole cluster pressed to preserve the delicate fruit aromas. Multiple harvest dates and a gentle press program ensured the flavor profile and chemistry aligned with the Ladera style. The juice was cold settled for 24 hours in tank then transferred to French oak barrels (12% new, 63% neutral) and stainless-steel barrels (25%) to undergo fermentation. The wine was aged sur-lies for six months and stirred routinely to create a long, rich and complex palate.
The lively 2021 Ladera Sauvignon Blanc displays a golden-green hue with intriguing aromas that unfold with every swirl. Intense fruit aromas of tangerine, honeydew melon and guava are highlighted with notes of fresh jasmine. The textured palate showcases flavors of mango, sungold kiwi and lime, integrated with a subtle oak spice and vibrant acidity that permeates through the finish.
