2015 Ladera Howell Mountain Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon + Le Belge truffles
97 Points - Modern Wine
The 2015 Ladera Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon hails exclusively from Howell Mountain. The vineyard ranges in elevation from 1,600 to 1,800 feet and sits above the typical fog line receiving longer sun exposure throughout the growing season. The abundant sunshine, along with distinctive red, volcanic and mineral rich soils, allows the grapes to achieve full physiological ripeness, producing ripe, flavorful wines with exceptional structure and great aging potential.
The 2015 Ladera Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is our hallmark wine and delivers the full expression of its mountain origins. Comprised of the most promising lots of the vintage, the grapes were hand sorted, gently de-stemmed without crushing and cold soaked for 7 days to extract maximum fruit characteristics. The wine was aged in 100% new premium French oak for 22 months before the final blend was assembled.
The 2015 Ladera Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon displays a deep, ruby color with gorgeous aromas of black cherries and raspberry preserve with subtle notes of nutmeg and raw cacao. As the wine opens up, pervasive notes of potpourri and crushed stone add dimension and intrigue. The concentrated, well-structured palate is rich and pure with ripe black fruits, supple tannins finishing with a refreshing beam of acidity. Deserving of time, decant or cellar this wine to enjoy its full potential.
